~Thanksgiving Resources~

I have compiled a list of resources for studying the Pilgrims, Plimoth Plantation, The Mayflower & the 'first' Thanksgiving.  My girls are early elementary age, but these resources could be used for older students as well.  We will revisit this unit study annually.  For now, we are having a ball with it.  We started this unit mid-November and will spend many enjoyable hours on these books & projects.  Please share your favorites that I have (or have not) listed.  Thank you, and...

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Here are a few pics from Thanksgiving season, 2010, when my girls were ages 6 & 7....

Our Pilgrimage To Plymouth, Mass....

Thanksgiving season seemed an appropriate time to share a few memories from our spring break trip to Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Plimoth Plantation
(Yes, this is the correct spelling of Plimoth.)

 Wampanoag Village

 On board The Mayflower II...

Below deck where the passengers lived and slept...

What a fabulous trip!  Can't wait to go back!

Homemade Blood Model

We studied blood this week as part of our human anatomy unit.
The girls made a blood model out of corn syrup, red hot candies, lentils & white lima beans.
Plasma:  Corn Syrup
Red Blood Cells:  Red hots
Platelets: Lentils
White Blood Cells: White Lima Beans

Pour & Stir...
They are extremely proud of their concoction.
They labeled the main parts of blood below.
